Poll Workers Needed!

COME ON OUT AND SEE THE ELECTION PROCESS FIRST-HAND !!

 

GENERAL INFORMATION
Poll Workers must be at their assigned polling place by 6:00 AM on the morning of the election and with the exception of breaks, lunch and dinner hours must remain there until all paperwork is complete. If you are unable to be at your assigned polling place on election day due to illness, please contact the Registrar of Voters Office as soon as possible.

It is advised that Poll Workers should submit a Vote-by-Mail ballot prior to election day, unless their voting precinct is close enough to allow them to vote during a scheduled break.

INSPECTOR POSITION
The Inspector provides guidance to their assigned precinct board. They are responsible for picking up supplies (i.e. ballots, roster of voters, precinct indexes, etc.) from the Registrar of Voters Office before the election.

They are obligated to attend a training class prior to each election.

Inspectors are to contact their Clerks to:
  • confirm their assignment.
  • verify the location and directions to the polling place.
  • advise them of the expected time to be at the polling place.

Inspectors are responsible for administering breaks, lunch & dinner hours and the completion of all closing paperwork. They must make sure that the polling place is open on election day at 7:00 a.m.

Accompanied by one other person, the Inspector must deliver the ballots and return the election supplies to the designated receiving center or to the Registrar of Voters Office on Election night.

ALL TEAM MEMBERS
Are Responsible for the following:
  • set up voting booths and tables;
  • display voter instructions;
  • hang the American flag properly;
  • demonstrate voting procedures as needed;
  • assist any individuals who may have difficulty voting;
  • issue ballots and secure ballots in ballot box after they have been voted.

WORKDAY
The workday starts at 6:00 AM until approximately 10:00 PM. There will be scheduled breaks.

PAY AND REQUIREMENTS
Inspectors: $175.00
Clerks: $130.00
There is a 2 hour training class for Clerks and a 4 hour training class for Inspectors held prior to election day.
Board members must be:
  • a U.S. Citizen.
  • able to read and write English.
  • at least 18 years old at the time of the election they will be working.
  • a registered voter.
  • not in prison or on parole for a felony.
 
If you are not currently registered to vote, you will need to fill out an affidavit of registration before you can apply to work as a Poll Worker.
